Fun Vegetarian Recipe Ideas for Both Kids and Adults

Planning meals for a family that includes young children and adults can be tricky. Planning to feed kids and adults strictly vegetarian fare, especially if you are new to the diet five fingers shoes , can seem overwhelming. Here are some fun recipe ideas that kids and parents alike will enjoy.
Breakfast and lunch:
Breakfast burritos: Scramble eggs or tofu and add your favorite vegan sausage or bacon, fried tempeh (a fermented soy product that can be sliced and fried), or tvp. Roll up in warm tortillas with shredded cheese. Have available as toppings: diced tomatoes, green onions, jalapenos, salsa, sour cream, and hot sauce for adults and brave children to choose from.
Celery boats Children like these with peanut butter and raisins. Try them with chocolate peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, or Nutella, too. For adults, fill them with goat cheese and figs, pesto and sundried tomatoes, or cream cheese and strawberry preserves.
Grilled sandwiches: Grilled cheese can go farther than it used to. Use brie and figs between slices of sourdough; sharp cheddar in rye bread; or mozzarella, fresh basil, and thick slices of tomato in ciabatta bread. For kids, try gouda, mozzarella, parmesan, and even brie. Peanut butter and jam grilled between slices of warm, buttery bread makes lunch as decadent as dessert. Nutella is good grilled between slices of pumpernickel bread, too.
Dinner:
Fried rice: Beat two eggs lightly and add to an oiled, very hot wok or large skillet. Spread eggs out in an even layer and do not disturb for 30 seconds to one minute until set. Slice with a spatula into small bits and push to one side of the wok. Add 1c frozen mixed vegetables and cook until warm, stirring with spatula (or by tossing with the wok). Add 3c cooked rice and cook, stirring, until warm. Add 1T roasted sesame oil, 1/4tsp ginger and 1/4tsp garlic. Toss. Do not omit sesame oil, as this is what gives the dish its distinct flavor. Season with soy sauce and sweet or hot chili sauce to taste. Serve with spring rolls and barbecued tofu.
Barbecued tofu: Press a package of extra-firm, non-silken tofu between paper towels to drain. Slice crosswise into 4 “patties.” Heat an oiled wok or skillet. Cook tofu until brown on both sides. Remove from wok. Mix 2T honey, 1/4c vinegar cheap five fingers , 1/2tsp molasses five finger shoes , 1/4tsp pepper, 1/2tsp ground mustard powder, and 1/4c soy sauce. Cook over med-low heat until slightly thickened. Pour over tofu and serve.
Fajitas: In an oiled wok or large skillet over high heat, sear chopped onion, green pepper, and zucchini until crisp-tender. Remove from wok. Brown your favorite meat substitute, if desired, and add to vegetable mixture. Clean the center stems from collard leaves. Spoon vegetable mixture into collard and add sour cream, shredded cheese, salsa, or lime juice. Wrap into a burrito shape. Eat, and watch out for the drips!
There are countless other tantalizing recipes that can be adapted to the palates of both kids and adults alike. One way to do this is to leave out sharp and spicy seasonings and let adults season at the table. Bring many toppings and food choices to the table and allow the family to choose what they like. This creates no pressure for the children to eat something they’re not comfortable with, but also leaves the door open for them to try new things in a natural way, as they are ready.

FAMILY WEIGHT LOSS SHOULD IT BE TEAM EFFORT

foods and drinks — admin @ 9:15 am

There are people everywhere that have an interest losing weight. There are some situations were one person in a family decides they need to try to shed some pounds before the summer come or to get rid of some weight before the holidays or before a special event come around so they can fit into a nice suite or that special dress. Now keep in mind when you are in a family situation most families have the same eating habits and also the same snacking habits as well. That why it is important that family weight loss should be a team effort without a doubt. When you are in a family situation some time one person will decide to break free from the normal eating habits and try to lose weight and they find that they are having an uphill battle. What I mean by that is they see other family members not concerned about their weight and they continue on with the same snacking and eating habits they have always had. Now the others in your family might say they don’t feel they need to lose weight and they feel great, they can eat whatever they want and not put on a pound. But you on the other hand put on weight by just watching them eat and snack. Another thing to keep in mind is when in a family situation the eating and snacking habits you witness on a daily basis become normal and acceptable and you find yourself struggling to break free from these bad habits. You also have a hard time sticking to your weight loss program because of your surroundings and what I mean by that is watching others eating the foods they eat and suffering no consequences from it what so ever and the first thought that pops into your mind is if they can do it why can’t I. You have to keep in mind everyone’s metabolism is different and everyone’s processes food and calories differently so what might affect you might not even bother them so the only person you should compare yourself to is yourself and that is it. Remember you can’t compare your progress to what someone else is doing, the only thing that does is make you unhappy with your progress and eventually you will think you are not accomplishing anything at all. So avoid that mindset and trap at all cost. Now when a family decides to make weight loss a team effort some amazing things happen in everyone’s life. You have a built in support system at home that can encourage you when you are struggling through hard times. Another advantage is everyone will change their eating habits and eliminate their snacking also, you won’t have to sit and watch others eat those foods you use to love that are bad for you. Most families have a weight loss competition in their own home were they sit down and make out a diet plan together. They also keep track of each other’s eating habits and there for one another. Another great advantage is you are not alone and it becomes a team effort and you have the support of the team behind you all the time. You have someone pushing you to accomplish your weight loss goal. One more great advantage is usually once or twice a week the family has a weigh in were you can see everyone progress or were someone might need some extra encouragement in their weight loss program. Do I think that weight loss should be a family effort, the answer is absolutely. You have the support, love and encouragement of others always there for you helping you to strive towards your weight loss goal. Also keep in mind when weight loss is a team effort the success rate is higher as opposed to trying it by yourself.

Natalie Jane’s Cafe.
Clarkesville GA,is a fantastic part of America, set in the Southern Part of the Appalachian mountains,it is well known for it’s outdoor activities. If you enjoy hiking, camping and other outdoor pursuits, then this is the place to come. This part of the country is well known for it’s fantastic fishing, and attracts many fishermen, all year round. Maybe your looking to rent a cabin and get away from the city for a while,Either way Clarksville is the place to come and enjoy all the outdoor pursuits you desire.Based at the southern part of the mountains, it’s a firm favourite for skiers in the winter months. Summer seasons see hikers from all parts of America come to walk the trails and camp in the many areas available.
Many of these hikers set out early to get a full day of walking around the many trails. Before they go,the best way to set up for the day is to eat a good, solid breakfast. There are 17 restaurants here in Clarksville but you will find the locals, and the people that come here year after year, no matter what the season, all seem to choose the same one. So i decided to check out the food and see what sort of service they offered.
Natalie Jane’s Cafe opens at 8am every morning. Its located in Downtown Clarksville, on the square. Its two own,ers Natalie Hiesley and her mother, Jane own the restaurant and opened in 2009. Natalie has been a chef for most of her life and previously worked at Black Stock Winery in Cleveland, before realizing her dream and opened her restaurant here. As you look around you can see a bustling restaurant business, well supported by the locals. Its very clean and well presented and you can see a lot of time, money, and effort went into getting the place to look as good as this.
For breakfast the choice put in front of me is delicious, i look around and see other customers enjoying stuffed french toast, waffles and buttermilk pancakes The big eaters are enjoying a huge plate of eggs, sausage patties, bacon, ham, toast and fries. Its called Natalie Jane’s duet, and you wont be hungry after eating that. I choose two blueberry waffles and they arrive every quickly. They are golden brown and cooked to perfection.I am told service is with a smile, and the locals were not wrong. I order a coffee, and at one point i have to say “no more thank you” as this was topped up on a continous basis.
Looking around there are some really good upcoming events being advertised such as an Italian night where they serve a good variety of pasta dishes. There is a open mic and music event on April 6th or a Jazz- Blues night on April 7th. These events all start around 10.30-11pm and provide a good nights entertainment for locals and visitors alike.
Overall i would say that i agree with the reviews i have read. This is a very nice cafe/restaurant and i will most certainly be returning here again in the future. Hopefully i will get chance to sample some of there evening entertainment next time. I have put a link to their website, check out the great menu. Natalie Jane’s Cafe

Online liquor store A new status to alcohols

foods and drinks — admin @ 10:54 pm

It is a boon for the liquor selling companies to enjoy the status of owning a presence on the web. “Online liquor store”, yes that is the sensational news of the morning. Gone are the days when people had the toil hard, getting out of their houses and locating a liquor shop and spending time in choosing a brand which they would finally find out of stock. Liquor home delivery is the character of the era now.
Now alcohol makers say “It’s the time to provide convenience to our customers”. Liquor home delivery is the token of enhanced customer service which the sellers are ready to offer to the customers. It can be inferred that the liquor suppliers are realizing that if they want to enhance their pool of customers then they have to apply the philosophy of customer relationship management. It is clearly evident from the minimal prices set by the companies for delivering liquor to the customers at their door steps.
People now can any time order their favourite brand sitting relaxed at their homes. Their favourite drinks are just a click or a phone call away as they just have to access the internet and view their dearest drinks and their prices on the web and order them by a phone call. It seems a myth but is true. To add on more value, the sellers are offering the provision for their customers to own a personal account of themselves on the Online liquor store. The customers can maintain a track of the order status.
Not to forget the benefits these sellers can reap through the click stream data they can obtain by tracking the online surfing patterns of the customers. They can come to know about the frequency with which their websites are accessed by the customers, profile of their clients and how frequently a particular customer buys. They have the option now to develop a systematic recency frequency and monetary value model for every customer.
The scope for enrichment of the sellers brand value increases as the chances of getting linked up with promotional ads and pop-ups related to other companies do exist. This may make the prospects of the company brighter for productive ventures and hence increase the business.
Also tie ups with social networking sites will lead to increase in the customer base. Constant feedback requests entered by these liquor websites on their portals is a customer relationship management tactic adopted by these websites which can be helpful for generating repeat purchases. The idea of Online liquor store has definitely proved to be a boon to the liquor business.

5 Popular Donut Flavors

foods and drinks — admin @ 9:22 am

Donuts have a special place in many people’s hearts. They are a special part of Western culture and have come to represent warmth, happiness, and sweet reward. They are not an especially healthy breakfast, but they aren’t always empty calories, either. They come in thousands of flavors, and everyone seems to have their favorite. Here are five of the most popular donut flavors and the history behind them.
1. Boston creme This is a yeast-type doughnut filled with a vanilla cream and topped with chocolate frosting. It is similar in flavor to Boston creme pie.
2. Cake There are two main types of doughnuts; yeasted and cake style. Cake doughnuts are more dense than their yeasted counterparts and they can hold up to all kinds of decoration. They are often iced and sprinkled, but they can also be glazed. They come in chocolate as well as a light version, and they can also be sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
3. Yeast Yeasted donuts are light and airy, thanks to the action of the yeast in the dough. They can be flavored, iced, and sprinkled, similar to Cake donuts, but they are much different in taste from that of the cake donut.
4. Jelly The jelly donut is similar in style to the Boston creme donut, but this one is filled with a strawberry, cherry, or lemon-flavored jam or gel.
5. Glazed This is the most popular kind of donut. It is yeasted and light with a chewy bite and a sugar glaze that imparts just enough sweetness to the fragrant dough. They are best served warm, a service Krispy Kreme has perfected. In the areas of the United States lucky enough to have a Krispy Kreme store, customers flock to the factory/stores when the donuts are hot and ready, prompted by a window sign stating, “Hot Now.”
In every country that makes bread, there is always a question about what to do with the extra dough. In England, scraps went into soups and stews and became dumplings. But in Holland and in Germany, cooks dropped the extra into boiling oil, and made fry-cakes, or olie-koecken. The Dutch went a step further and fashioned the dough scraps into twisted designs, or knots, and sugared them after they were cooked.
Donuts do have a history as “knots of dough.” Early American families prepared sweet yeasted dough, twisted them, and cooked them in boiling fat, usually lard. They were often then seasoned with cinnamon sugar, similar to the cruller type of donut today. However, the oldest recorded mention of a donut was made by Washington Irving in “History of New York” in 1809. In it, he defined donuts as “balls of sweetened dough fried in hog’s fat.” This probably means the name “donut” actually refers to a nut-shaped piece of dough, as opposed to a dough “knot”. Captain Hanson Crockett Gregory is credited with the invention of a donut with a hole in it, though he probably stole the idea from the Dutch. Wherever the origin, donuts have a firm place in Western history and they are surely here to stay.
